Roya Rastegar

Roya Rastegar is the Executive Director of Global Freedoms 501 (c)(3). She is an award-winning producer and writer whose credits include Gaga: Five Foot Two (2018), Cypher (2023), Venus as a Boy (2021), QueenMaker (2023), and Wildness (2012). She has programmed for Sundance and Tribeca, and served as the Head of Programming for the Los Angeles Film Festival. Rastegar is an Emerging Fields Creative Capital fellow, and was a Curatorial Fellow at the Whitney Museum of American Art. Her research can be found in American Quarterly, Screen, and Camera Obscura. She earned her Ph.D. in the History of Consciousness at UC Santa Cruz and serves on the Editorial Board of SEEN: A Journal of Film & Visual Culture.
