Ruba Al-Sweel is a writer and researcher of arts and culture in, from and about the Middle East and North Africa. Her threads of inquiry focus on digital communications and online movements, taking a transdisciplinary approach that sits between semiotics and sociology. Her writing has appeared in the Brooklyn Rail, Art Asia Pacific, Vogue, and VICE among others. She holds a master’s degree in media and creative industries from SciencesPo, Paris, and currently manages global and integrated communications at Art Jameel, an independent organisation that supports artists and creative communities.
